Morrice Duel Mayfield Sr., age 80, of Wilsonville passed away on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007 at a local hospital. Mr. Mayfield was born in Alabama on April 3, 1937, the son of Mr. Travis Mayfield and Mrs. Meadie Bright Mayfield. He served proudly his country with love, honor and valor in the United States Army and worked for U.S. Steel.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Sulphur Springs Cemetery outside Hayden. Visitation was held at Charter Funeral Home on Monday from 6-8 p.m.

Survivors of Mr. Mayfield include his loving wife, Mary J.; sons, Tommy Mayfield (JoAnn) of Alabaster and William Jennings (Silvia) of San Diego, Calif.; daughter, Elizabeth Gayle Acker (Ronny) of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Marie Smith of Gardendale; Juanita Anderson of Blount County; brothers, Clyde Mayfield (Evelyn) of Mt. Olive and Ray Mayfield (Lois) of Hanceville; granddaughters, Jasmin Brigette Jennings; Elizabeth Michelle Jennings and Katie Hope Jennings all of San Diego, Calif.; Christa Lyn Mayfield of Birmingham; and grandson, Jason Daniel Mayfield of Tampa, Fla.
