AHSAA teams to host fan day events

Numerous schools across the county will host events for their communities and fans this weekend as part of the kickoff to the 2007 Alabama High School Athletic Association football season.

Montevallo will get things started with a Meet the Bulldogs event Thursday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. in the school’s performance arts center.

Pelham will hold a two-day “Green and Gold” event with Pelham and Helena youth team scrimmages, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday. The Pelham varsity squad will scrimmage 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Thompson’s “Meet the Warriors” was scheduled for 5-9 p.m. Friday, but has been canceled.

Chelsea’s “Blue and White Day” will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. with scrimmages between youth teams of all ages levels followed by the varsity squad. Admission is $2.

Calera will have “Eagles Day” in similar fashion Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. Spain Park will begin its “Jag Day” at 3 p.m. Saturday.
