Jacob Snuggs took the opening kickoff 80 yards for the first score and the Evangel Christian Lighting never stopped, as Evangel rolled to a 64-6 victory at Heritage Christian. Special teams continued to result in points as Hunter Price returned Heritage’s first punt 35 yards for the next score and take a 16-0 lead with only two minutes spent off the clock.

Lance Hipps, who scored twice on two-point conversions already, struck three more times on a 30-yard run, 21-yard pass from Price and 21-yard run to help the Lightning to a 40-0 first quarter lead.

Price found the end zone on a 7-yard scramble before Luke Webb posted 10 points for the Lightning with a safety, 15-yard touchdown and two-point conversion.

The Evangel defense allowed just 57 yards total offense by Heritage, including a 32-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. Phillip Chestnut answered for Evangel with an 18-yard scoring run, as Evangel used 10 backs from its 16-man squad to post 173 yards of rushing offense on 20 carries.

Wesley Dean led the defense with seven tackles and two sacks.

Evangel returns home to Hoover Central Park next Friday to host Franklin (Tenn.) Classical at 7 p.m.
