Jacob Snuggs stepped up for Evangel Christian Friday, scoring two touchdowns and making a game-saving tackle to lead the Lightning to a 26-24 victory at Tabernacle Christian of Gardendale.

Tabernacle scored late in the fourth quarter, but Snuggs stuffed the two-point conversion run at the 1-yard line to secure the victory.

Evangel fell behind 6-0 in the first quarter before Hunter Price connected on a 17-yard pass to J.T. Miller to even the score. Tabernacle added two more scores before the half to put the Lightning down 18-6, however the second half was all Snuggs.

Price, who was 4-of-11 for 88 yards passing in the game, found Snuggs on passes of 19 and 51 yards to tie the game 18-18. Snuggs then added the two-point conversion to give Evangel a 20-18 lead. Price added a 7-yard touchdown run to extend the lead.

Evangel (6-2) hosts Loganville Christian in a conference playoff game Friday at Hoover Central Park. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
