4-H holds national leadership event

From Sept. 23-25, the 57th annual 4-H National Engineering, Science and Leadership Event was held at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. Dalta Garrett from Shelby County represented Alabama in the Electric Energy Competition. Her project was about LEDs, light emitting diodes.

During the trip, she visited Mammoth Cave and the Corvette Museum in Kentucky and toured a Caterpillar and Subaru manufacturing plant in Indiana. She also toured Purdue University’s engineering department. Dalta Garrett placed first in Electric Energy at the state 4-H competition this summer, which made her eligible for the national event
