Walter Jackson “Jack” Bozeman

Walter Jackson “Jack” Bozeman, age 80, of Alabaster, passed away peacefully at his home Oct. 27, 2007. He was born May 24, 1927, to Charles E. and Ada Moore Bozeman.

Jack retired from Roadway Express Inc. after 32 years of service. He was born and grew up in Longview and resided in Alabaster for the past 50 years. He was a co-founder of Mt. Era Cemetery Fund, which provides perpetual care for the cemetery at Mt. Era United Methodist Church. Jack was well-loved and respected by his family, friends and neighbors and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Willo Dean Hooper Bozeman; his son, Robert E. Bozeman; sister, Mary Ellis; and brothers, William H. Bozeman and Charles E. Bozeman Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Ann Pesnell Bozeman; children, Jimmy Ray Bozeman of Rainbow City, Terry Wayne Bozeman and Ista Bozeman Elliott of Alabaster; step-children, Glenn Vaughn (Teresa) of Altoona and Laura Purdy (Steve) of Pinson; grandchildren, Randy Bozeman (Michelle) and Jennifer Taribori of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Jason and Michael Bozeman of Rainbow City, Allison Bozeman Simpson (Matt) of Waxhaw, N.C., Scott Elliott of Alabaster and April Elliott of Montgomery; step-grandchildren, Amy Hudson (Donnie) of Ashville, Andrea Beasley (Jimmy), stationed in Germany, Leigh Ann, Michelle and Brittney Purdy of Pinson; great-grandchildren, Saxton Silvis, Rastlin Bozeman, Catlin and Bailey Tarabori, Mattie Grace Simpson; and one great-great-grandson, Bradford Silvis; sisters, Mildred Baldwin of Alabaster, Flora Mae Foster of Columbiana, and Sarah Prestridge of Prattville; brother, Howard Bozeman of Denver, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home in Columbiana, on Monday, Oct. 29. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home, 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30 with burial at Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera, immediately following service, with the Rev. Mary Seales officiating.
