Army Staff Sgt. David A. Friese has deployed to Iraq in support of

Operation Iraqi Freedom. The soldier is a member of the 17th Combat

Sustainment Support Battalion stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage,

Alaska. Members of the support battalion will provide a headquarters for 1,500 transportation soldiers based in northern Iraq.

Friese, a senior human resource sergeant, has served in the military for 15 years. He is the son of Philip E. Friese of Overview Circle, Red Lion, Pa.,and brother of Samantha Friese of Bigelow Drive, Harrisburg, Pa.

His wife, Melanie, is the daughter of Nancy Carlile of Pelham
