Evangel lost a tough road game, 38-26 in a rematch to Harvester in Douglasville, Ga.

Evangel trailed by four in the fourth quarter, when they fumbled on what could have been a game-winning drive, which ended up leading to Harvester’s final score.

Running back Lance Hipps had another great night on the ground leading the Lightning running attack with two touchdowns, along with quarterback Hunter Price and J.T. Miller who each added rushing scores in the defeat.

Lightning head coach Steve Dean said his team shouldn’t get too down on themselves about the ICSGA playoff loss, since they have an even bigger game ahead of them next week in the first round of national 8-man football playoffs.

The Lightning will travel to Dayton, Tenn. to play two games, which if they win both, will net them the NACA championship, the biggest stage of competition for eight-man football.

“I told the players as disappointed as you are (about the loss), we go to the nationals now and if we win two games, we win that title,” Dean said. “It’s not over for us.”

Dean said team was invited a few weeks back based on the program’s reputation and the success that they have had so far this year.
