Dudley and I were both so very pleased with the establishment of the Dudley and Pedro Pendleton Hydrant Trail in Montevallo, the fire parade and the news coverage but to set the record straight, the headline was somewhat misleading.

The dedication of the trail and the recognition of Dudley&8217;s 50 years of service to Montevallo as a volunteer fireman and his 24 years as a member of the Water and Sewer Board was done immediately preceding the parade.

The parade itself is held yearly to honor all of the men and women who serve as firefighters and medics and to also call attention to the annual observance of Fire Prevention Week.

We encourage you to support your local fire and medic personnel, visit and enjoy the Hydrant Trail and mark your calendars for next year&8217;s Montevallo Fire Prevention Week Parade.
