Lauren Denise Owens of Helena, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2007, at the age of 56. She was born and reared in Mobile. Denise received a B.S., M.A., and M.A.A. in Elementary Education at the University of Montevallo. She taught elementary school in Talladega and Shelby counties for a total of 28 years and was Shelby County’s teacher of the year in 1995. She also served as a technology resource teacher in Shelby County until she retired. She was a faithful member and Sunday school teacher at Riverchase Church of Christ since 1979. She was preceded in death by her father, Aron Feagin, and a brother, Eric Feagin.

She is survived by her husband, Robert E. “Robby” Owens; two daughters, Christy Hensley and husband, John, and Lauren King and husband, Cody; her mother, Maureen Feagin; two brothers, Steve Feagin (Berdi) and Tig Feagin (Sara); mother-in-law, Kathleen Bearden Perkins; uncles, Chester Feagin (Donnie) and Fred Feagin; aunts, Montiel Whisenhant and Vertie Brookhart; and many other Bearden and Owens family members in Shelby County.

The family received friends Saturday, November 10, 2007, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Riverchase Church of Christ. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 11, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. at the church, with DeWayne Spivey officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Garden, South.
