Dot Darrell Smith Adams

Dorothy “Dot’ Darrell Smith Adams, age 87, passed away Dec. 6, 2007, in Anniston. Dorothy was born in Birmingham on March 14, 1920, to parents Ben H. Smith Sr. and Nellie Mae Auston Smith. She was a graduate of Fairfield High School and attended Huntingdon College before marrying William Vernon Adams of Birmingham.
Dot had an older brother, Col. Roland Smith, who preceded her in death and leaves behind another brother, Dr. Ben H. Smith Jr., for whom she worked in Birmingham as receptionist and bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of the Alabama Business Women’s Association.
Upon her husband’s retirement, her family moved from Birmingham to Columbiana, where she was active in the Columbiana Culture Club and a member of the Columbiana United Methodist Church.
She leaves behind three daughters, Lynne A. Isom (Ed) of Anniston, Carol A. English (Howard) of Birmingham, and Jan. A Smith of Columbiana…and eight beloved grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 9 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel in Birmingham. Graveside services immediately followed.
Dot leaves us with lots of love and special memories.
