D.A. Hare, 88, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, peacefully in his sleep. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, E.W. Hare and Geneva E. Hare; and brother, William C. Hare.

He was well known in the recreational vehicle field. His hobby of more than 50 years provided pleasure, experiences, and many friends and acquaintances.

He was one of those people who will be missed by many.

Mr. Hare is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Helen; son, D.A. Hare Jr. (Sonny); daughter, Geraldine H. Connor (Wayne) of Lilburn, Ga.; granddaughters, Kelly Connor of Charlotte, N.C.; and brothers, Edward Hare of Charlotte, N.C. and J.L. Hare of Savannah, Ga.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery with the visitation held one hour prior to the service at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel. Donations may be made to United Methodist Children’s Homes in Selma or to the Humane Society of Shelby County.
