Johnnie Ruth Lee born Oct. 16, 1914, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at the age of 93. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Charter Funeral Home. Burial was in Shelby Memory Gardens. Dr. Hal Warren officiated. Visitation was held two hours prior to the services at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lee was a resident of Calera and was a member of Calera Baptist Church for more than 60 years. “Victory in Jesus” was her favorite song.

Her husband of 57 years, James Milford Lee; parents, Effie K. Collum and William P. Collum; and daughter, Jane Janell Rhodes, preceded Mrs. Lee in death.

Mrs. Lee is survived by her children, Virginia Ruth Young, (W. R.); Linda Vise (Stephen); James Milford Lee, Jr. (Peggy); Jonna Ali and son-in-law, Arthur Rhodes, Jr.; 13 grandchildren, William Michael Young, Vickie Lee Young Owens, Lori Ruth Young Banissi, Lee Ann Rhodes Jackson, Cary Arthur Rhodes, Richard Alan Vise, Susan Lee Vise Benvenuti, Zebariah Lee, Wendy Glenn Avery, Woody Glenn, Micah Lawson, Judge Ali and Jenna Ali; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; sister, Gertrude Holsambeck; and many other nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Beacon Hospice, 2145 Highland Avenue, Suite 110, Birmingham, AL 35205.
