Shay Ashford posted a double-double, 17 points and 10 rebounds, to lead the University of North Alabama to a 71-60 Gulf South Conference victory over the University of Montevallo Lady Falcons Saturday.

UNA held off a 16-5 run by Montevallo in the second half to take the 11-point victory. The Lady Lions led by as many as 21 points before UM’s rally cut the lead to six points, 62-56, with two minutes to play.

Jennifer Hendricks led UM with 14 points, while Katie Vanderhyden had 12 points, including 10 in the second half.

UM (5-13, 1-2 GSC) travels to the University of West Florida Saturday.
