Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Michael Hajek of Atlanta, Ga. announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Hajek, to David Van Hayes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Van Louie Hayes Jr. of Hoover.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mrs. Amelia Berry Gordon of Atlanta and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Thomas Baker of Charlotte, N.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Milton Hajek of Naperville, Ill.

Miss Hajek, a graduate of Wesleyan School in Atlanta, earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Samford University. At Samford, she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She is currently employed at Grayson and Associates in Birmingham.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Leo Cutts Sr. of Alabaster, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Van Louie Hayes, Sr. of Hueytown.

Mr. Hayes, a graduate of Kingwood Christian School, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Samford University. At Samford, he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. Mr. Hayes is currently a student at Cumberland School of Law.

A May 31, 2008 wedding is planned at 6 p.m. at the Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Atlanta.
