Sybil Cook Davidson, born March 25, 1923 passed away on Feb. 27, 2008. In celebration of her long, wonderful life, her family remembers she was born in West Frankfort, Illinois, and then moved to Alabama as a young child. On Oct. 31, 1941, she married William Evans Davidson in Calera. After their marriage they made their home, where they resided until their death, in what is now known as historic Old Town Helena. Mrs. Davidson spent her life being a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Most everyone knew her as “Nana.” She was a long time member of Helena Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling to new places, but out of all her travels, her favorite destination remained Gatlinburg, Tenn.

Mrs. Davidson was preceded in death by her son, Charles Evans Davidson; husband, William Evans Davidson; brother, Charles Cook; and parents, Charlie and Irene Cook.

She leaves behind her devoted son, Jim Davidson; loving daughter, Judy Davidson Horton; and precious granddaughter, Jennifer Horton.

The family would like to send out heartfelt thanks to New Beacon Hospice, including especially Jo Ellen Nowocin, Marion Hollingsworth, and Sylvia Denton. Also, thanks to Pat Kovalchick, Ernie and Pat Kochem, Jeannie Eddins, Aunt Rosie Matthews, and a host of others who have lent their support through prayers, food, and love.

Graveside funeral service at Helena City Cumberland Cemetery was held Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Lloyd Miller officiated. Burial followed.
