PELHAM — Fran Driver knows the restaurant business. As of January, she’s been operating her diner, Fran’s Restaurant for 47 years.

As far as Driver is concerned, the restaurant has taken over her life.

“Either I own it, or it owns me. I don’t know which one,” Driver said, with a laugh.

MENU

Old country cooking is what Driver called her food.

If a down-home style is what you desire, Fran’s offers just that. Whether it’s chicken and dumplings or chicken and dressing, diners can choose from any of their favorite southern, home-cooked meals.

Customers can also order the traditional meat and vegetable plate, with a variety of veggies to choose from.

And, of course, no meal is complete without something sweet to top it off. Driver suggested a scrumptious cobbler to order for dessert.

But why wait until lunchtime to splurge on good country cooking? Those who are up bright and early can head on over to Fran’s for a hearty breakfast.

Country ham and eggs, oatmeal, omelets, hotcakes and biscuits and gravy are just a sampling of what Fran’s has to offer for breakfast.

ATMOSPHERE

Fran’s restaurant offers seating for about 90 people.

Although it can hold quite a few customers at any one time, Fran’s is still cozy enough to give customers the feel of a small-town diner.

The wood paneled walls of Fran’s are covered in country-style d/cor, adding to the effect of the homey atmosphere.

SERVICE

The friendly faces of Fran’s employees are sure to keep customers coming back.

Driver said many of her customers are regulars, who stop in for breakfast or lunch any day if the week.
