FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Cahaba-Coosa Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution met Feb. 22 to celebrate the real birthday of George Washington.

Chapter President Allen Dismukes offered the toast in George Washington’s honor. Johnny Curry from the American Village gave an account of the personal and military life of George Washington, including several little known facts about the patriot.

The Cahaba-Coosa Chapter, in its fifth year, plans to celebrate the date annually to honor Washington.

The chapter meets the third Sunday of each month at the North Shelby County Library on Highway 119 at 2:30 p.m. Any man who can trace his ancestry to a person who fought or supplied aid in the Revolutionary War is welcome to attend a meeting.
