Long-time Pelham volleyball coach Tammy Richardson was among nine inductees into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame during a March 17 ceremony at the Montgomery Convention Center.

Richardson, a graduate of the University of Montevallo, won more than 1,140 volleyball matches at Pelham before retiring last spring.

She led her teams to two Class 6A state titles, and guided Pelham to 17 state tournaments, including 11 Elite Eight tournaments and four Final Fours.

She was named the state volleyball Coach of the Year in 1993, Alabama Female Coach of the Year in 1996, and National Federation Section 3 volleyball Coach of the Year in 1999.

More than 50 of her players have gone on to play collegiately.

Also inducted was the late graduate of Calera High School and the University of Montevallo, James Findley.

He compiled a 259-117 record coaching basketball at Holtville High School from 1960-65 and 1984-97.

He took his team to five state tournaments, winning it all in 1996, the same year he was named Class 3A Coach of the Year.
