Blake Horton was 2-for-3 with three RBIs Monday to help lift Shelby County to a dominating win over Vincent, 15-2, via the mercy rule, 15-2. Ethan Isbell was also 2-for-3, while Cody Shields was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs. Caleb Benton picked up the win for the Wildcats.

BASEBALL

Sylacauga 6-5, Shelby County 3-2: After winning the first area game of the season against Chilton County, the Shelby County Wildcats struggled to pick up their second area as Sylacauga took the double-header sweep, 6-3, 5-2. In the first game, Braten Dill was 3-for-4 with a triple, while Graham Davis was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Kevin McNorton finished 2-for-4 with a double. The Wildcats opened an early 2-0 lead over Sylacauga, but a three-run sixth inning, fueled by three Shelby County errors, proved to be too much. In the second game, Sylacauga scored three runs in the first inning, which proved to be enough to seal the win. Brennan Smith was 2-for-4 with a double, while Nick Wingo, Dill and Isbell each scattered a hit. Smith picked up the loss in the first game and Justin Blankenship got the loss in the second game.

SOFTBALL

-Chelsea 14, McAdory 0: Stephanie Hollis knocked in three runs to help lead Chelsea (11-11) past McAdory. Johanna Barnes had two RBIs, while Jennifer Bradford had three hits and an RBI. Morgan Pence got the win, allowing four hits. She also had two RBIs.

Maplesville 7, Calera 5: Although Calera jumped out to an early 2-0 lead Monday, Maplesville fought back to take the win, 7-5. Offensively for Calera, Katelyn Dean and Brooke Andrews had two hits apiece, while Rachel Turnbloom had one.

-Shades Mountain Christian 9, Indian Springs 1: Kate Massey led Indian Springs with two hits in a loss to Shades Mountain.

Fultondale 4, Calera 0: Katelyn Dean had the only hit for Calera on Friday as Fultondale took the shutout victory, 4-0.

-Open Door 16, Coosa Valley 4: Coosa Valley had six hits against Open Door. Courtney Davis and Amelia Ripley each had two hits, while Terri Sprayberry and Tyger Paris each had one. Paris and Ripley split time in the pitcher’s circle.

Calera 18, Indian Springs 1:Calera scored eight runs in the third inning Thursday to pull away from Indian Springs, 18-1. Katelyn Dean led the Eagles offensively with a pair of doubles. Brook Andrews also had a double, while Savannah Burleson had three hits, Felicia Woodson had two and Heather Giddons. Rachel Turnbloom, Brooke Roberson and Kymber McGiboney each had one.

BOYS’ SOCCER

-Indian Springs 10, St. Clair County 0: Ben Guion had two goals to help lead Indian Springs past St. Clair County. Nine players scored overall, including Taylor Hogan, who scored the first goal for Springs just two minutes into the match.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

-Thompson 10, Hillcrest 0: Emily Warman scored with 7:15 to play to end the game and give Thompson a mercy rule shutout over Hillcrest. Mary Morris, Kacey Chance and Warman each had two goals in the game, while Paige Verschoof, Madison Hooten, Molly Cline and Caitlin Camp also scored. Morris had two assists. Thompson keeper Danielle Morris faced only one shot.
