Vestavia Hills remained unbeaten in the girls’ soccer Metro Tournament Tuesday with a 3-0 shutout of Thompson at home. Graycie Wingo led the Rebels with two goals, while Amy Davis scored the second.

Thompson allowed three shots on goal and a PK, which was missed by Vestavia, in the opening minutes of the game before settling down to trail only by a goal at the half. The Rebels last two goals came in the final 11 minutes of the game. The Warriors had 10 saves. Vestavia battles Altamont tonight with the winner advancing to the final at Hoover Thursday.

In other Metro games:

-Oak Mountain 1, Clay-Chalkville 0: Lauren Skaggs gave Oak Mountain a 1-0 lead with 45 seconds left in the first half, and that was all the Lady Eagles would need to remain unbeaten in the Metro Tournament Tuesday. Shannon Lathrop had the assist on the goal. Richelle Byrd had one save. The Lady Eagles battled to a scoreless tie against Spain Park on Monday.

-Spain Park 1, Hoover 0: Spain Park had plenty of opportunities to score in the opening minutes, but it wasn’t until the 21st minute of play before Brittany Morgan put the Jaguars’ lone goal in the net. The win keeps Spain Park even with Oak Mountain in the tournament. If both teams win Wednesday and have the equal amount of goals, they will be forced to take part in a PK shootout to determine who will meet Vestavia or Altamont in Thursday’s final.

In regular season games:

-Briarwood 6, John Carroll 0: Missy Shaw and Lindsey Sillers each scored two goals to lead Briarwood past John Carroll. Lauren Silvio added had two assists and a goal.

BOYS’ SOCCER

-Oak Mountain 4, Spain Park 2: Oak Mountain jumped out to a 2-0 first-half lead as the team looked for revenge after a loss to Spain Park two weeks ago. The Eagles added two more in the second half for the win. Chandler Hoffman had both first half goals and added an assist in the second half, while Andres Aristazabal and Daniel Wolfe each had a goal. Stefan Vaziri had two assists. Hudson Jettonoff scored the first goal for Spain Park off a corner kick. Trey Anderson had seven saves for Oak Mountain and Taylor Curry had three for Spain Park.
