Eugene D. Walters

Eugene D. Walters, 61, born Sept. 18, 1946 of Calera, formerly of Montevallo, died Friday, April 11, 2008 in Hoover. He was born in Pelham, graduated from Thompson High School in 1964, and attended Jefferson State for two years.

Eugene was a certified electrician and worked for Dudley Williams Electric Company in Montevallo, and the Hoover Board of Education. He was a volunteer fireman and received awards for his service. He was also a member of University Baptist Church.

Eugene was preceded in death by Robert W. Walters.

He is survived by his wife, Tina Burgess Walters, married for 34 years; daughter, Christina Jewel Walters; mother-in-law, Jewel Rich Burgess; mother, Ethclene Shirley Walters; brother, Perry Walters; sister, Theresa; uncle, J.D. Walters; and special pets, Bugsi and Prince Richard II.

Visitation was held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham on Tuesday, April 15, from 5-8 p.m. for friends. The funeral was held in the Southern Heritage Chapel, Wednesday, April 15, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robin Norisworthy and Bro. Houston Belcher officiating. There was a graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial in Jacksonville at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ronnie Burroughs officiating.

Memorials may be made to a Trust Fund that will be set up in Christina J. Walters name at Regions Bank.
