A 10-year-old boy, Kenny, recently received a Key to the City of Alabaster from Mayor David Frings.

Kenny, who has been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. was in Alabaster on April 24 at Avanti Polar Lipids, Inc., as part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Kenny’s wish was to meet NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon, and he got that chance Sunday prior to the Aaron’s 499 at the Talladega Superspeedway.

Avanti hosted the tour for Kenny and his family as part of its partnership with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

Avanti has partnered with CHOP in a clinical trial to determine if an Avanti-made product can correct the abnormalities associated with cystic fibrosis
