Evangel softball takes second in ICSGA

The Evangel Christian School softball team took second over the weekend in the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama tournament.

The Lightning defeated Loganville, 9-4, in the first game to advance to the finals, where Harvester too the title with a dominating 12-1 victory.

In the first game, Evangel scored five runs in the opening inning and four in the second to take the lead they would never relinquish.

Ryan Hopson, Taylor Grammer and Emily Foster led the Lightning with three hits apiece. Lisa Armstrong had two hits, while Julie Motes and Kati Wood each had one, including a three-run home run by Wood.

Hopson picked up the win, finishing with four strikeouts.

In the finals, Harvester scored two runs in the first before exploding with 10 runs in the third inning.

Grammer and Motes had the only two hits, while Motes scored the lone run
