Jaclyn Morlan, a graduate of Montevallo High School, is the recipient of one of 16 Montevallo Ambassadors Program Scholarships at the University of Montevallo.

She was selected based upon her academic record, said Lynn Gurganus, director of admissions at UM.

The scholarship, valued at approximately $12,000 for the 2008-2009 academic year, will cover the cost of tuition, fees and room and board. The award will also include a $1,000 annual stipend for books.

MAPS students also get the chance to participate in an international study program. Classes for Montevallo’s 112th academic session will begin Aug. 25.

UM offers 36 degree programs in approximately 75 areas of study. Montevallo enrolls about 3,000 students each year
