Gary Packwood, assistant professor of music at the University of Montevallo, associate director of choral activities and currently interim director of choral activities, has been named UM’s College of Fine Arts Distinguished Teacher for 2008.

In addition to his teaching duties, Packwood conducts the University Chorus and Chamber Singers, serves as coordinator of music education and is founder and conductor of The Montevallo Chorale, an amateur community choir
