The Developing Alabama Youth (DAY) Program in Alabaster is hosting their Second Annual Sporting Clay Tournament to raise funds for their nationally-recognized program which helps troubled youth in our community. The event will be held June 6 at Selwood Farm in Childersburg. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with an 8:30 a.m. start time. A team of four is $600 and a station sponsor is $100. The grand prize will be a half-day quail hunt.

The DAY program provides troubled youth with an opportunity to bring them selves up to the academic and social level at which they should be performing. In many cases, the program offers an alternative to suspension. It provides these things in a personal, social, academic and individual way.

Started more than twenty-five years ago, Shelby County’s DAY Program was one of the first of its kind in the nation. It has a successful track record of offering much needed guidance and support to young people who may have experienced academic and behavioral problems. This program has inspired some of Shelby County’s youth who might not have received a high school degree.
