Antonio Tinsley recently graduated from Wenonah High School and will be a student at The Culinary & Hospitality Institute at Jefferson State Community College this fall.

He was awarded a scholarship from Alagasco that will cover his uniforms, textbooks and knives.

Alagasco, the state’s largest natural gas utility, sponsored the scholarship for students enrolling in Jeff State’s culinary program. Applicants wrote essays about why they were interested in pursuing a career in culinary arts and why they enjoyed cooking, especially with environmentally responsible natural gas.

Jeff State also awarded Tinsley a scholarship to cover the first semester’s tuition.

Tinsley’s dream is to work as a chef because it is a job that enables him to do something he loves.

“I hope to have my own restaurant where people come and enjoy a meal that lets them remember having a hot plate prepared by their grandmother,” he said
