Pelham resident Richmond Flowers Jr. and Montevallo resident Leon Davis were inducted into the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame in Dothan on Saturday.

Flowers, who was born in Dothan, set five state records in the 1964 state track meet and a national record in the high hurdles. He went on to become a star receiver at the University of Tennessee and played in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys.

Davis, a native of Elba, began the basketball program at Alabama College, now known as the University of Montevallo, in 1969. He served as athletics director at the time and went on to serve as president of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Others inducted in the 16th class of inductees on Saturday were: Gene Dews, Tom Vickers, Alex Howell, Larry Blakeney, Don Maestri, Yolanda Terry and Randy Butler
