James Stannard of Birmingham is the recipient of a four-year University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) University Scholars Award valued up to an estimated $32,000. He is the son of James and Carolyn Stannard of Birmingham.

Stannard is a senior at Briarwood Christian School. He is a member of the varsity football, track and lacrosse teams. At UAB, he plans to major in biology
