Loyce Gene Cox

Loyce Gene Cox, age 72, of Calera, died June 22, 2008.

Born in Alabama on Aug. 2, 1935, he was the son to the late Mr. Lumin Gavhane and Mrs. Willie Estella Smith Cox.

He served his country with love, honor and valor during the Korean War. Working in the coal mines, he was employed as a hot car driver.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services that were held Thursday at Charter Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Burial followed in Pelham City Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Holsomeback officiating.

Survivors of Mr. Cox include his wife, Barbara Fay Cox; daughters, Deborah Ham of Quinton and Stacey Dempsey (Charlie) of Springville; son, Larry Cox (Tammy) of Calera; sisters, Reba Chandler of Maytown, Elsie Smith of Calera; Faye Snell (Wayne) of Wilton and Annette Goggins of Calera; brothers, Ernie Cox (Kathy), Frank Cox (Jan), Gary Cox, all of MI, and Charles Edward Goggins (Collette) of Calera; grandchildren, Andrea Ledbetter, Nicole Ham, Matthew Ham, Candace Cox, Amanda Dempsey and James Bolding; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Shaw, Allysa Williams, Trey Williams and Grace Oliver.
