Matthew Lloyd Hicks, age 22, of Chelsea passed away June 21, 2008, in a tragic accident.

Matthew is the son of James Michael Hicks, of Birmingham, and Susan Chesser Arwood, of Chelsea.

Matthew leaves behind a sister, Katie Suzanne Hicks, and a brother, Robert Justin Chesser, both of Chelsea; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Hicks and Cynthia Chesser and the late Stanley Chesser of Chelsea. Matthew also leaves behind numerous friends and other family members.

Matthew recently completed his navy training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois, where he graduated with honors. Matthew looked forward to serving his country as a Special Warfare Combat Craft Crew. He was extremely proud to be a Navy Seaman.

Matthew was a beautiful boy, a beloved son, a loving brother and grandson. God has called our angel home too soon, but we know He has special plans for him in Heaven. Matthew will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts forever. Visitation was held Saturday, June 28, 2008, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral services following at 1 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church and burial in adjoining cemetery. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directed.
