Abston to play in White House game

Eli Abston, grandson of Martha Pair Cox and the late W.E. Cox Jr. of Westover, will represent Alabama in the annual Tee Ball on the South Lawn All-Star Game at the White House on July 16.

Abston, 6, is plays ball in the Huntsville Eastern Little League and goes to Hampton Cove Elementary School in Huntsville.

One player from each of the 50 states and Washington D.C. will be divided into four teams to compete in the games on the South Lawn, an event created in 2001 by President George W. Bush.

Every player will play on defense and bat once, followed by a picnic for them and their families. The President will also present each player with a baseball he has autographed. Game time is to be announced.
