Johnny Edward Jones

Johnny Edward Jones, born in Alabama on Aug. 15, 1946, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008, after 9 1/2 years of a lengthy illness in a local hospital. He was a resident of Columbiana.

Mr. Jones worked with Valley Mills in Columbiana and with Siluria Mills in Alabaster until it closed. He then went to with Brasfield & Gurrie in Birmingham, before going to work with the Shelby County Highway Department until he became ill.

Every weekend, Johnny and Debbie attended southern gospel singing along with J.V. and Elise Jones. Johnny was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services were held at Charter Funeral Home on Sunday at 2 p.m., with burial in Old Shelby Cemetery. The Rev. Dewayne Burton and the Rev. Gary Bean officiated at his services. Visitation was held Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Charter Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucious and Nelma Littlefield Jones; son, Chadrick “Chad” Lee Jones that passed away March 27, 2008; and brother, Lewie Earl Jones.

Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Deborah Jones; daughter, Denise Hanson; son, Brandon Scott Jones; sister, Evaughn Gould (Jim); brother, Carroll Jones (Carolyn) and Virgil Jones (Joan); three grandchildren, Nichole, Rocky and Halen; uncle, Johnny Jones; sister-in-laws, Shelia Jackson (Joey) and Connie Osborn (James); and special cousins, J. V. and Elise Jones.
