Two Boy Scout troops in Helena each have earned top honors this summer from the prestigious Camp Rainey Mountain in Northeast Georgia.

Troop 532, sponsored by Helena United Methodist Church, attended the camp in early June. Troop 2, known as the “The Deuce” and sponsored by the Helena Kiwanis Club, recently returned from Rainey Mountain while attending the week of July 4. Each week of the summer, Camp Rainey Mountain, which is the premier summer camp of the Northeast Georgia Council, attracts hundreds of scouts ages 11-17 from states as far as Idaho.

The Helena scouts participated in activities ranging from scouting and outdoor skills to high adventure activities such as mountain climbing and whitewater kayaking. Troop 2 and Troop 532 are part of the Shelby District of the Greater Alabama Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
