Edwards wins commission seat

Shelby County voters went to the polls Tuesday to vote in local and state runoffs.

Voter turnout was around 3 percent, according to Probate Judge Jim Fuhrmeister.

The most interesting local race was for Shelby County Commission, Place 2, between Tommy Edwards and incumbent Earl Cunningham.

With 19 out of 20 boxes counted, Edwards leads Cunningham by 24 percentage points.

Shelby County Commission, Place 2

Earl Cunningham (incumbent): 272 votes (38 percent)

Tommy Edwards: 442 votes (62 percent)
