Raybon wins Dixe PGA Pro Championship

Inverness County Club golf pro Troy Raybon birdied the final hole at Auburn University Club on Thursday to win the Dixie PGA Professional Championships by one stroke.

Raybon, who shot a 69 in Wednesday’s opening round, shot a 70 to edge Mark Blackburn for the $2,200 prize. He entered the day tied with Blackburn of Gunters Landing and Rick Smallridge of Auburn University Club.

Raybon, Blackburn and third-place finisher Lawrence Auer qualify to compete in the 2009 PGA Professional Championship to be played June 28-July 1 at Twin Warriors Golf Club and Stanta Ana Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, N.M.

Riverchase Country Club pro Bryan McMurray finished 14th with a two-day score of 148. Chase Lake pro Neil Thompson, a Helena resident, shot a 152, and Altadena Valley pro Jeff Copeland shot a 153.
