Café offers a boost of energy

Any restaurant or café could more than likely whip up a flavorful sandwich or wrap and maybe even a smoothie to wash it down. Few could provide that same meal with an extra punch of vitamins and fewer calories.

Octane Café in the Village at Lee Branch has a mission to serve healthy food, beverages and snacks.

The restaurant just recently opened next door to the Rave theater in the back of the shopping center.

ATMOSPHERE

This restaurant is all about high energy. The atmosphere is bright and inviting inside the restaurant but there is also ample seating on a patio if you want to enjoy the sunshine.

MENU

The café calls its breakfast menu the “Power breakfast.” This means whole wheat wraps packed with egg-whites for lower cholesterol and fresh veggies like black beans, red peppers and mushrooms. You can also add in turkey bacon or low-sodium ham if you really crave the protein. Sorry, but there aren’t any hash browns to go along with breakfast but there are several EmPower Bars such as the pumpkin walnut or cranberry orange pecan.

Things get a little more involved for lunch with sandwhich wraps like the apple walnut turkey, a wrap filled with diced apples, chopped walnuts, mango chutney roasted turkey and a raspberry vinaigrette.

SERVICE

Those waiting the counter at this café seem more than happy to help you choose the best meal for your hunger. They’ll explain the menu and even help you decide on the right smoothie to go with it all.
