A 31-year-old man from Shelby was killed Sunday morning after being struck by a train in Chilton County, the Clanton Advertiser reports.

The man was hit shortly before 9 a.m. on a CSX track off County Road 25 north of Jemison. His name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Police have not said why the man was on the track, but foul play isn’t believed to be involved, the Advertiser reports.
