Police continue to investigate the suspicious death of a woman from El Salvador.

A 32-year-old female was found dead Sunday in a car off Stonehaven Trail between Walker Road and Walker Way.

Police are having a hard time locating the woman’s next of kin and continue to withhold her name and any other information about her.

Investigators haven’t said exactly how she died, but are treating the case as a homicide.

A press release from Pelham Police said the victim died after an assault.

Police spent most of the day Monday combing the crime scene, including a nearby wooded area and Buck Creek.

Anyone with information about the crime should call Pelham Police at 620-6550.

Investigators are especially interested in talking with people who were in the area between 6-7 a.m. Sunday.

Stonehaven Trail runs between Shelby County 52 and U.S. 31 through Stonehaven Subdivision.

The death is Pelham’s first homicide of the year.
