The University of Montevallo Alumni Association hosted its 41st Olympics Day on Saturday.

The day began with the Hope Bryant Smith Memorial 5K run, which started at the Robert M. McChesney Student Activity Center.

Former baseball player and current teacher/coach at Thompson High School, Nathan Stockman, was the top male alum in the race, while another Thompson teacher/coach, Sabrina Lynch, was the top female alum. Kyle Dunklin and Lori Bateman were the top non-alum male and female, respectively.

The day also included a two-man golf scramble, won by William Campbell and Josh Emerson, and a tennis tournament, won by Donald Clayton in the men’s competition and Valerie Burrage in the women’s.

Proceeds from the day benefit the Hope Bryant Smith Service Scholarship.

Award winners in the 1-mile fun run/walk were: JIm Herlihy, Peggy Herlihy, Elizabeth Herlihy and T.J. Herlihy, Multiples of Kin Award; Jenna Campbell and Kelley Emerson, Family Tree Legacy Award; Jane Glover, Senior Sensation Award; T.J. Herlihy, Whippersnapper Award.

Other golf award winners were: Mark Knight, closest to the pin and Ron Lindsey, longest drive.
