Junior middle hitter Carson Anderson (Chattanooga, Tennessee/Baylor School) of the University of Montevallo volleyball team (3-1) has been named Gulf South Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week. Anderson had a stellar tournament this past weekend as she had a team-high 19 blocks over four matches.

Anderson currently ranks second in the conference in blocks per game (1.36) but leads the league in total blocks with 19. She also played well offensively leading the team in attack percentage (.333) while producing 29 kills.

This is Anderson’s second honor as she was named East Defensive Player of the Week during her freshman campaign and it’s the first player of the week honor for any Montevallo volleyball player since 2006.

Anderson and the rest of the Falcons will return to action tomorrow, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. as they host University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras.
