University of Montevallo freshman Ginny Davis of Madison was named Gulf South Conference Runner of the Week. Davis led the Falcons’ cross country team to its first team victory in school history Sept. 6 at Delta State.

Davis finished third at the Delta Invitational with a time of 19:46.94. In her first-ever race as a Falcon, Davis set the school record for a 5K and was the first Falcon ever to run a sub-20 minute 5K.

She is also the first Montevallo cross country runner to be named GSC Runner of the Week.
