Lois Jeannie Salvage Smith, age 60, of Alabaster died Friday morning, Sept. 5, 2008.
She was born Nov. 22, 1947 in Lansing, Ill., to William Clow Salvage and Evelyn Joyce Trottman Salvage.
Lois was a very caring and giving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her family fondly remembers her extraordinary generosity toward people in need.
She frequently reached out to the homebound of Alabaster First United Methodist Church, where she was an active member for the past 10 years.
Despite her own physical needs, she went out of her way to personally purchase and donate items to Hurricane Katrina evacuees.
Lois is survived by her husband, Charles W. Smith; a son, John B. Smith (Esmeralda); three daughters, Kimberly Walker, Tamara Smith, and Laura Smith; two brothers, William Salvage and Kent Salvage; a sister, Linda Garson; and six grandchildren, Joseph Mares, Aaron Mares, Bradley Lillard, Hayley Lillard, Brian Lillard, and Brittany Lillard.
The memorial service will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008 at Alabaster First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kip Laxson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the American Lung Association.
