For the second game in a row, the University of Montevallo men’s soccer team (2-3-0) used a three-goal second half to down its opponent. The Falcons defeated Eckerd College on Varsity Field Friday, 3-0, for their first win at home.

Senior Jonathan Maloney got things started when he headed in a free kick from Milan Pualic in the 53rd minute. Victor Perim and Austin McIntosh then scored two goals only 1:24 apart. Perim was assisted by Maloney and Joe Gross, while McIntosh fired in a 35-yard shot off a deflected corner kick.

The first half was an evenly played affair with UM taking a slight 7-6 advantage in shots.

The Falcons came storming out in the second half as they took 13 shots, including seven on goal, and allowed just three shots by Eckerd.

Sophomore Nathaniel Foster led the team in shots with four as he continually found his way behind the Tritons defense. Perim, Gross and Maloney all registered three shots while a number of players had one.

Former Oak Mountain goalkeeper David Esser posted his first shutout at UM, stopping three Eckerd attacks.
