Bells will ring out from Columbiana United Methodist Church Wednesday at 3 p.m. to signal the beginning of Constitution Week across the country.

Mayor Allan Lowe signed a proclamation marking Sept. 17–23 Constitution Week after a request from the local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter. DAR members Judith Arthur and Phoebe Robinson plan to mark the week by teaching more than 160 sixth–grade students at Columbiana Middle about the freedoms the Constitution provides United States citizens.

On Monday, they will speak to fifth–graders at Elvin Hill Elementary. Students from each class will receive Constitution Week certificates from the DAR.
