Last week, Chelsea snapped its three-game losing skid with a win at Talladega, keeping the Hornets from falling to 0-4 to start the season. Chelsea (2-3) snapped another streak this week, this time, it was Jemison’s 4-0 beginning to the season.

“We just wanted to stop them and get on a winning streak,” Chelsea running back Garrett Salter said.

Salter helped stop Jemison by collecting 262 yards of total offense. His 10-yard touchdown run in the second quarter regained the lead for Chelsea, 13-7. Salter also turned a 10-yard pass on 3-and-7 into a 91-yard sprint for the end zone to open the fourth quarter to round out the Hornets’ scoring, 26-14.

Quarterback Blake Yance helped lead the charge in the first half with a 24-yard touchdown, just over three minutes into the game. He went on to finish the night with 33 yards on the ground and 218 through the air.

The Hornets, as a whole, collected 430 yards of offense, while holding Jemison to 291.

Patrick Sims, who had 86 yards on four catches for Jemison, led the Panthers with a touchdown pass in the first and third quarter.

Chelsea (2-3, 1-2) returns to Class 5A, Region 4 when it travels to Sylacauga next week.
