Alabama’s chapters of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation donated $500 to Alabama’s Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program.

“We raise money throughout the state for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) and a certain percentage of that goes back to the state,” said Randy Waterhouse, RMEF Regional Director. “We look for programs like BOW to promote conservation and the outdoors. We’re also involved in the Archery in Schools program.”

Waterhouse presented program coordinator Sylvia Payne with the donation at the BOW workshop last weekend at the Alabama 4-H Center near Columbiana.

“We sincerely appreciate the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s donation to Alabama’s Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Program,” said coordinator Sylvia Payne. “Support like this enables us to keep our registration fees down and helps purchase much-needed workshop supplies.”

BOW is a three-day workshop designed for women ages 18 years or older. The workshop offers hands-on instruction in more than 50 courses such as backyard wildlife, rock climbing, camp cooking, map and compass, camping, mountain biking, shooting sports (pistol, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, as well as gun safety), fishing, hunting, canoeing, nature photography, nature crafts, archery, ATV handling, bird watching, motor boat handling, and more.
