Wildcats, Lions unchanged in poll

Shelby County and Briarwood Christian’s status was unchanged Wednesday in the new Alabama Sports Writers Association football poll for Class 5A.

The Wildcats (7-0) remain No. 4 and can clinch the Class 5A, Region 4 championship at Talladega Friday. Briarwood (6-1) remains No. 7 and travels to Sylacauga Friday, where a win can secure a first-round playoff game at home.

Vincent received one vote in last week’s poll, but fell from the Class 2A receiving votes list after losing to Fultondale Friday.
