HBO to feature show on Dr. James Andrews

HBO’s Real Sports, hosted by Bryant Gumbel, will air an exclusive feature on sports medicine orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 9 p.m.

For the segment, “Dr. Fix-it,” correspondent Jon Frankel sits down with Dr. Andrews.

Andrews has been viewed as a pioneer in the world of sports medicine for more than 30 years and is the most respected specialist in his field. In addition to running the Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center at St. Vincent’s Hospital, he currently serves as the team doctor for the Auburn University and the University of Alabama. Over the years he and his medical partners have performed surgeries on numerous high school athletes from the Birmingham area and top college and professional athletes from across the nation.

HBO’s Josh Fine will produce the 139th episode of Real Sports, with Gumbel, Ross Greenburg and Rick Bernstein serving as executive producers and Kirby Bradley as senior producer.
